Description of Property and Location:
Make a wish-list of a dozen countries you’d consider setting-up home in and a second of a dozen executive dwellings you feel might be right for you in that country. You’re probably in the market for a pleasant view, security and a pool, the same as everyone else, but is this really you?
If you want more, such as architecture which fuses the subtle sweeping lines of Art Deco with the opulence of a six-star hotel, you need to have St Lucia in your first wish-list and Akasha in the second.
Situated in St Lucia’s fashionable district of Cap Estate is the home for the discerning professionals . . . Akasha.
The only trouble with resisting the temptation of Akasha is that you might not get another chance!
Here’s what the originator of the old saying: ‘You never get a second chance to make a first impression’ had on his/her mind when words became form . . . Akasha, as viewed from the drive up to the villa. The rounded side wings hint at the magnificent sea-views on offer whilst the arched entry invites you to sample the form, function and sheer luxury of a bygone era.
Nuevobbean at its best.
Bold, without being ostentatious, Akasha oozes style. From her airy open-plan living areas to fully air-conditioned entertainment areas such as a nine-seat Theater which features a state-of-the-art 110-inch screen, for those high-definition Blu-Ray DVD’s or conference calls so vital in decision making these days. Lighting is taken care of by the Lutron Lighting System and sounds courtesy of the whole-home Crestron System. A Games Room is home to Pool and Poker, ideal for relaxing and entertaining clients or family members.
The Yamaha Grand Piano adds a certain je ne sais quoi to the first-floor and the tastefully constructed elevator will make sure you get there quickly and in style no matter which of the three floors you might wish to visit. Security is high tech and low key. Obviously the details aren’t common knowledge. However, we can promise a full alarm system (with remote monitoring and armed response), and a complete CCTV system with off-site storage. There’s also full backup power, so necessary for peace of mind these days, should the grid power be interrupted . . . for whatever reason and staff quarters are available for full/part-time house staff.
The Great Room is aptly named with its Swarovski chandelier, tasteful conservative furnishings. The open-planned design accentuates the less is more, but that’s not to say there isn’t more. A 42-inch Home Entertainment System is wired to the discreetly placed surround-sound system boasting state-of-the-art sub-woofers and speakers. More is also brought home with the views, especially after dark. Picturesque Rodney Bay puts on her own light-show as restaurants, hotels and bars prepare for the evening’s business. Another ‘must-have’ view is the one of The National Trust area of Pigeon Island. In daylight it’s a natural extravaganza with its historical fortifications and natural beauty.
Form and taste are Akasha’s building blocks and are in evidence everywhere. From the beautifully designed Italian kitchen to rooms featuring floor to ceiling windows which frame the breathtaking views unique to this premier location. The award-winning English firm of Roderick James Architects LLP originally conceptualized Akasha. So it’s no surprise that materials sourced globally, aligned to an appreciation of Caribbean/Nuevobbean living, push the envelope of opulence to a new level.
Only the very best in outdoor facilities would do justice to the interior and the beautiful Infinity Pool, 4,000sq.ft. of stylish terracing (offering each suite its own individual outdoor area), Swim-up Pool Bar and Viking BBQ Pit do just that. The ‘Tiki’ hut, adjacent to the Infinity Pool, adds a slice of South Pacific rustic charm, just the place to cool off and to appreciate the panoramic views . . . beautiful, the sky is no longer the limit.
Sometimes you don’t have to look too far to admire the view, especially on Akasha’s 50ft. tall Entertainment Terrace. Subdued lighting and wooden decking (replete with three-inch glass inserts) unveil the villa’s architectural secrets. The third-floor balcony is accessed via the lobby, the elevator allowing access for all ages and fitness levels, to view nature at her imposing best. The full panorama emits a feeling of floating as trade winds caress the open-plan area mixing seasonal fragrances with a divine sunset . . . beautiful.
. . and so to bed. For those of us who are happy to let nature welcome us in (and say goodnight) to another day there’s always a panorama waiting. Also waiting to get you in (or out) of the day is a spacious Changing Room to compliment the all-inclusive en-suite bathroom. There’s also built-in audio (as in all rooms) which can be adjusted to individual tastes. Don’t lose another night’s sleep searching for your dream luxury villa, you’re already here . . . AKASHA.
